BMI tool

Do you think the BMI tool used by schools is effective to help develop and implement programs or activities to help students at risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes? I know there is a stigma with overweight students being offered treatment. However, some schools are using other tools for various diseases. Obesity is a major problem in the United States. Targeting diverse groups and adolescents is important since the results of BMI helps to coordinate plan of care for them. Children and adolescents with a high BMI and considered overweight or obese are more likely to experience negative social interactions which can result in low self-esteem (Sutter et al, 2015).
